“God must be shut out. By silence they declare God irrelevant and unimportant in every area of lite and study. Public schools illegitimately operate as God-free zones claiming exemption from the lordship of Christ. This is not neutrality. This is bias, contempt, and rebellion against God's Word; this is twelve years of atheism.” -Millstones & Stumbling Blocks by Bradley Heath
“Public schooling is non-Christian by design. Its frame of reference, its interpretation of facts, and its educational philosophy are intentionally non-Christian. Again, this does not make public schools neutral. They are no more neutral than a Buddhist school, an Islamic school, or a Communist school. They simply offer a different non-Christian education; they do not offer neutrality.” -Millstones & Stumbling Blocks by Bradley Heath
“The irrelevance of God is a fundamental doctrine taught by all public schools ........... Is God relevant to any subject taught in public school? All of my teachers and all of my books said no. Consequently, every day for twelve years the content and context of my public schooling said there is no God, and even if there is, He does not matter.” -Millstones & Stumbling Blocks by Bradley Heath
“I am not criticizing specific people, but an inept bureaucratic system masquerading as the benevolent guardian of children. I contend that public schooling shamelessly betrays the children it claims to serve: “And whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me; but whoever causes one of these little ones who believes in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.Woe to the world because of its stumbling blocks! (Matthew 18:5-7) Thus, the premise of this book is simple: Public schools are stumbling blocks, not building blocks.” -Millstones & Stumbling Blocks by Bradley Heath
“By the 1850s, before we had compulsory government-controlled public schools, child and adult Literacy rates averaged over 90 percent, making illiteracy rates less than 10 percent. Today, as shown by the New York State Education Department's annual report and other studies, student illiteracy rates in many public schools range from 30 to 70 percent. This is an education horror story and betrayal of our children.” -Public Schools, Public Menace by Joel Turtel
“Compulsory public schools are anti-parent, by their nature, in spite school officials' calls for more parental involvement cooperation. Public schools are government institutions that seek to control our children's values as well as their education. Because parents have always (rightly) believed that these important tasks are their responsibility, totalitarian societies such as the former Soviet Union usually regard parents as com-for control of children's minds and values. Unfortunately the same applies to our government-owned-and-operated schools.” -Public Schools, Public Menace by Joel Turtel
“Trying to repair the public-school system is futile, precisely because it is a compulsory, government-controlled near-monopoly. Trying to fix this system with vouchers, charter schools, or new federal regulations is like trying to cure cancer with a band-aid.” -Public Schools, Public Menace by Joel Turtel
“If you want to give your children a decent education and a chance at life you must take their future into your own hands, now. It is useless to hope that the public-school system has the will or ability to reform itself. It is a waste of your time, and your children's precious lime, to deal with, plead with, or complain to public-school auhorities or employees who benefit by the system.
Instead, do as the citizen-slaves of communist East Berlin ilid when they fled to freedom in West Berlin—vote with your feet. Consider writing-off the public-school system. Consider taking your children out of these schools, permanently. You and your children remain victims of the public-school system only by your own consent. The power to withdraw your consent is a power that public-school authorities can't stop. Withdraw your consent and refuse to be a victim any longer” -Public Schools, Public Menace by Joel Turtel
“...multiculturalism classes sell the "oneness" of all peoples and cultures. They teach that no culture or set of beliefs is better than another.
The problem is that some cultural beliefs are worse than others. Many societies or governments around the world are tyrannical and strangle their people's freedom. Some countries have corrupt dictators or religious dictatorships that violate women's basic human rights and turn them into second-class citizens. These societies or governments do not value or protect personal, economic, and political freedom as we do.
For example, Americans don't slash the faces of women who wear makeup, or stone women to death who have committed adultery. State or local governments in America don't shut down newspapers whose editorials they don't like. In America, a person accused of a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty, and has the right to a trial by jury. In tyrannical societies around the world, people don't enjoy such rights. Therefore, to say that all cultures are equally good for their people is to claim that there is no difference between liberty and tyranny, between a free country and societies or governments that oppress men and women in their daily lives. All cultures are not equal in this regard.” -Public Schools, Public Menace by Joel Turtel
“A public-school system that coerces parents into giving I heir children mind-altering drugs that are potentially addictive, dangerous, or even lethal, is a moral abomination. A public-school system in which millions of children have to take Rilalin to make them pay attention in class, is a frightening and embarrassing failure.” -Public Schools, Public Menace by Joel Turtel
“Nothing condemns our public-school system more than the fact that over five million school children take Ritalin to keep them from fidgeting in their seats and make them pay attention in class and focus on their studies.
Too often, school authorities refuse to accept the blame for our public schools' failure to teach our children or hold their interest in class. Under intense pressure to solve the "discipline" problem, school authorities resort to the quick fix—they pressure parents to give their children Ritalin.” -Public Schools, Public Menace by Joel Turtel
“Schools also profit because ADHD is now officially classified as a "disability." The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) passed in 1990 gives public schools federal special-education funds for children labeled as having a disability. As noted earlier, public schools can get in excess of $16,000 a year in tax money for a student in a special-education class, compared to the average $7500 per student in a "normal" class. Even worse, special-education funding costing from $20,000 to $100,000 per year, per student, has become common.”
As a result, for every student a school classifies as ADHD and puts in a special-education class, the school can get from $10,000 to $90,000 per year in additional tax funds. That is because the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act specifically forbids schools from considering cost [italics added] when designing their special-education instruction programs.” -Public Schools, Public Menace by Joel Turtel
